    How it works

Three steps from a busy job to a clear decision

    1. Name one job

Pick a task that keeps coming back, such as replying to enquiries. One real job gives a far more useful answer than "my admin".

    2. Answer four questions

How often it happens, how much it repeats, what it mainly needs and what would happen if it went wrong.

    3. Get your route

    What the result tells you

Five possible answers and what each one means

Faster work only helps when a job can safely be handed over. That is why the last question asks what would happen if it went wrong. A job that could cause serious harm stays with a person, however often it comes up.

How one job becomes one of five AI routes A single job passes through four questions and is matched to one of five routes: keep it human, AI as a helper, simple automation, AI agent or AI prepares and you approve. Your job one real task 4 questions 1Keep it human 2AI as a helper 3Automation 4AI agent 5You approve
    1. Keep this job human

A person stays in charge. AI might prepare a small part, such as organising notes or making a checklist.

    2. Use AI as a helper

You do the thinking. AI speeds up the blank-page work with a first draft you check and improve.

    3. Set up a simple automation

The steps repeat and the rules are clear, so a reliable shortcut beats an AI conversation.

    4. An AI agent may suit it

AI could carry out several steps within clear limits, starting with a small, low-risk test.

    5. AI prepares it, you approve it

AI does the groundwork. Nothing is sent, published or bought until you have checked it.

    Common questions

Giving work to AI: common questions

Which tasks should I automate with AI first?

Start with a job that happens at least weekly, follows similar steps each time and would cause little harm if something went wrong. Copying details between tools, sorting enquiries and preparing first drafts are common starting points. The four-question test above checks one real task against those points.

What kinds of business tasks can AI do well?

AI is good at first drafts, summaries, research, sorting information and turning rough notes into structured documents. Simple automations handle repeated admin, such as moving form details into a spreadsheet or sending a confirmation email. A person still needs to check anything that affects money, trust or safety.

Which tasks should not be handed over to AI?

Keep a person in charge of jobs that need trust, care or careful judgement, and of anything where a mistake could cause legal, financial, health or safety harm. AI can still prepare a small part, such as organising notes, while a person makes the decision.

What is the difference between an AI automation and an AI agent?

An automation follows fixed steps you set, such as moving details from a form into a spreadsheet. An AI agent can carry out several steps and make small choices along the way, so it needs clear limits on what it may do, what it must never do and when it must ask you.

What does "human in the loop" mean?

It means a person reviews or approves AI work before it is sent, published or acted on. It suits jobs where AI can do useful preparation but a mistake could cost money or trust. In this tool, that route is called "Let AI prepare it, then approve it yourself".

How do I know if a task is ready to automate?

A task is usually ready when you can write the steps down one sentence at a time, similar information goes in and comes out each time and the rules rarely change. If every case needs fresh thinking, using AI as a helper is often a better fit than automation.

Do I need technical skills to start using AI in my business?

No. Using AI as a helper only needs a clear request and one real example. Simple automations can be built in no-code tools such as Make or Zapier. Connect two steps first and test them with something low-risk before adding more.

How long does the test take?

Just a few minutes. There are four questions with three or four answers each, and your result appears straight away on this page.

Is this tool free and do I need to sign up?

Yes, it is free. You do not need to enter an email address to see your result, and you can save or print the answer once it appears.

Is the job I type sent anywhere?

No. The job you type and your answers stay in this browser. Nothing is sent to PassivAi when you use the test.

Can I test more than one job?

Yes. Choose "Test another job" after your result and start again with a different task. Testing a few jobs one at a time is a quick way to build a shortlist of what to hand over.

What should I do after I get my result?

Try the first step in your result on one real example, then check the outcome before doing more. If you are still deciding which part of your business needs attention first, the free NOAM Business Compass below helps with that.
